Run in the 2019 TCS New York City Marathon with Guaranteed Entry
Do exploring, shopping and running mix? My husband Kane and I joined Adventure Time Travel on their United Airlines NYC Half tour to find out and discovered when in New York City they most certainly do! New to group travel we quickly found Anna and the team at Adventure Time Travel have the formula perfected. So how did we combine our 5 night stay in one of the greatest cities in the world, with an international running event? Let me share some of the highlights.
Our group stayed at The Beacon Hotel, a perfect selection by Adventure Time Travel. The hotel is conveniently located in Upper West Side on Broadway, with easy access to the NYC Subway (which we proudly mastered) and adjacent to Whole Foods Market. Our room had stunning skyscraper views, was cosy and extremely well considered, with a really-comfortable bed and fully equipped kitchen. The historical Beacon Theatre is next door and in true New York style we managed to catch Jerry Seinfeld live!
Our group quickly bonded and relished the balance of group activities and free time – another testament to Adventure Time Travel who have mastered the art of hosted travel. Together we embarked on a limousine tour of landmark sites of Manhattan including the Strawberry Fields memorial in Central Park, National September 11 Memorial, Chelsea Market, Carrie Bradshaw’s Apartment and the Wall Street Historic District – to name just a few, wow!
We also embarked on a limousine shopping tour with leading fashion expert Karen Parker O’Brien from Style Room NYC. This was such a fun experience, granting us unparalleled access and prices to some of the most exclusive designer shops in New York.
We spent our free time getting lost in a city we quickly fell in love with. Highlights are truly too many to mention, but included wandering through Central Park, Times Square, exploring SoHo and Tribeca, taking the Big Bus Tour, experiencing the One World Observatory, feeling like we were in a movie on the NYC Subway, riding bikes though the city in peak hour (and surviving!) and so much more!
And now to the United Airlines NYC Half – so special. Our group was made up of weekend warrior runners (my hand is up) and elite runners like my husband. Ability seemed to have zero relevance on this group, we all gelled as equals and our host Anna made us feel so proud of our accomplishment to even arrive at the start line.
We all felt such enormous gratitude for the opportunity to participate in an event that afforded the chance to run over the Manhattan Bridge and through Times Square which is remarkably shut down for the occasion. Special mention to the thousands of New Yorkers who lined the streets to so generously cheer us on. To celebrate our finishing, we dined as a group at Tavern on the Green – yet another trip highlight.
I can’t recommend our experience with Anna and Adventure Time Travel more highly. The trip from accommodation, to group activities and free time was seamless. Anna’s knowledge of New York City is exceptional, and her relationships built locally meant we had unparalleled access to experiences and opportunities. We also formed wonderful friendships within the group which made this trip even more priceless!
