It took me around three decades of growing up on Australian beaches and a routine skin cancer screening check to realise that I should have covered up more over the years. I’ve always worn sunscreen, but still hours beneath the hot Australian sun has caused skin damage. An upcoming trip to Singapore prompted me to go searching for a new swimsuit, which led me to SunSoaked sun protective swimwear – a range so good I had to share!

The brand is creating a new genre of swimwear – sun safe chic.  It all began in 2012 when founder and designer Kate Davis Steer, recognised that she could buy protective swimwear for her young daughter but not for herself. Anything that offered protection from dangerous UVA and UVB rays was masculine and not remotely stylish. So Kate set about solving the problem, combining her background in design and fashion to develop SunSoaked. It quickly became apparent that Kate was not the only one after stylish, protective swimwear – the brand has developed a cult following by women all over Australia and the world.
