The questions about my Invisalign experience roll in thick and fast. From parents of teenagers with orthodontic issues to people my age who are considering treatment for themselves, it seems that everyone wants to know all about Invisalign invisible braces.
I am now four months into my Invisalign journey, with around two months to go. The experience is an overwhelmingly positive one. From the excellent care and advice provided by Straight Smile Centre to the ease of using Invisalign, I am so pleased that I decided to undertake this treatment and improve my smile.
To best share my thoughts on the treatment process and the results, I will answer my most commonly asked questions.
IS USING INVISALIGN WORTH IT?
The visual difference in my teeth is such a short time is astonishing. The most noticeable change is that one of my front teeth no longer overlaps the other. I can definitely see and feel that my teeth are significantly straighter. This improvement makes me feel very excited for the final results.
WHAT HAS THE PROCESS BEEN LIKE?
The process has been a simple one, especially given the results that I am already experiencing.
Wearing the aligners regularly has been okay. You do need to wear them constantly to progress, but I can remove them if I need to, such as when I am presenting to camera.
I have only visited Straight Smile Centre twice: for my initial consultation and fitting four months ago, and more recently to have work done on my teeth to create space for movement.
Over the course of the treatment, Straight Smile Centre sends boxes of aligners to me. I use a new aligner each fortnight.
My progress is monitored through the clever Dental Monitoring app, meaning that I can be treated from the comfort of my own home. I take images of my teeth in front of the bathroom mirror and upload them to the app, with the results being monitored by Straight Smile Centre.
I have learned to manage my treatment well, in part thanks to my competitive nature! By staying on track, I have been able to progress in the scheduled time.
The team at Straight Smile Centre have been great. The are there to answer any questions. They even quickly replaced the aligner that I reversed my car over!
IS IT PAINFUL?
I have experienced no pain whatsoever. My current aligners are fixing an overbite. Whilst they have been the most uncomfortable ones to wear so far, the discomfort is still very minor.
WHAT HAS BEEN MOST CHALLENGING ABOUT USING INVISALIGN?
For the treatment to be as effective, Invisalign aligners need to be worn throughout the day, removing them only for eating and teeth brushing.
As I really feel the cold, I love to constantly have a hot drink to hand in these winter months. In order to do that, I would have to repeatedly remove my aligners, so I now have less of my beloved tea and coffee.
To manage this, I focus on the progress of my teeth. Seeing such a big change in only four months has really helped me to keep motivated.
THERE WASN’T ANYTHING WRONG WITH YOUR TEETH!
When anyone exclaims that I didn’t need to straighten my teeth, I whip out my phone and show them the Dental Monitoring app. Through the app, I can show images of before my treatment and how my teeth appear today. People are often taken aback by the difference!
In addition to cosmetic changes that can be easily viewed in photographs, Invisalign is also correcting a bite issue.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
