It’s straight smiles all the way with Invisalign.

If you didn’t have braces in your youth, you might be considering correcting your teeth in adult life, and that can sometimes seem a little daunting.

Especially if you don’t know your options or how easy it can be to straighten your teeth without braces.

She Shopped founder Lucy Cornes had been thinking for a while about getting Invisalign, an easy and convenient alternative to braces.

With an overbite and some crowding of teeth, Lucy’s smile was beginning to impact her dental health.

“I’m getting pain in my jaw and headaches, and I also have quite significant wear on my teeth. I’d also just generally like straighter teeth. My smile is my favourite feature and I want to make it the best it can be,” she says.

With no idea what to expect, Lucy visited Straight Smile Centre to find out if Invisalign is the right solution for her dental needs.

Lucy met with Dr Grant Duncan and the team to find out what she required to straighten her teeth and how long it would take.

Invisalign is quite a revolutionary orthodontic treatment used to treat crowding or excess spacing of teeth, overbites, underbites and crossbites.

It’s virtually invisible, removable and hygienic, and it’s a paper thin, clear, comfortable alternative to braces.

Made from medical grade and BPA-free clear thermoplastic, Invisalign is placed over the teeth like a thin sports mouthguard and changed every two weeks, moving the teeth into a slightly different position each time.

It’s suitable for almost anyone who wants to straighten their smile.

Lucy has decided to document her experience from consultation through to her entire treatment to help others who are thinking of correcting their teeth to see if Invisalign is right for them.

The first consultation saw Lucy hearing from Dr Duncan, so he could explain the procedure and complete an examination.

She had some photos and X-rays taken, and a scan, which will ultimately help to create fully customised aligners to fit her teeth using the latest 3D technology.

At the first consultation, Lucy also have an opportunity to, discuss fees, work out a payment plan and ask important questions like, ‘What do I do when it’s time for a snack?’

Dr Grant says that’s no problem because she can take out the aligners to eat or drink whenever she wants, without worrying about getting food stuck.

And since Invisalign is virtually invisible, chances are no one will even notice Lucy is undergoing treatment, except She Shopped readers in the know!

So in 4-6 weeks after this video, Lucy’s aligners from Straight Smile Centre will be ready for collection and she will be able to start her treatment plan, which she is told, will take 12 months.

Keep your eye on She Shopped as Lucy shares her experience along the way – being really honest about her experience – which might help you to decide if Invisalign is possibly an option for you.

If you’re keen to straighten your smile, too, head to the Straight Smile Centre website and check out your options.
