Now in its eleventh year, Science Alive! returns to the Adelaide Showground this August and it is all kinds of awesome. A part of National Science Week, it’s the largest Science Expo in Australia attracting over 25,000 people over two days. The dynamic, interactive event for the whole family, offers so much to do in a fun and educational environment.
This year there are three stages presenting live shows across the two days. Ruben Meerman, the Surfing Scientist is an incredibly exciting performer taking liquid nitrogen, balloons and the laws of physics and applying it to educational shows that he‘ll be performing. He has an arsenal of science tricks up his sleeve and will be performing three times daily.
You’ll also have the chance to catch up with Rob and Dean from The Curiosity Show. The legendary Australian science communicators Professor Rob Morrison and Dr Deane are back with a brand new bag of tricks and some old favourites. It’s sure to be standing room only at their four shows across the Science Alive! weekend, as mums and dads introduce a whole new generation of eager young minds to the wonders of science.
There will be plenty of opportunity to get hands on, with over 60 science-related exhibitors offering interactive experiences involving mixed-reality technology, droids and robotics, gaming, solar cars, native animal displays, plus health and nutrition.
Daily entry to the August 6 – 7 expo is FREE for all children under 18 years and $20 for adults 18 and over. She Shopped’s tip is to buy tickets online – they are cheaper ($15 for adults and $10 for concession) and you’ll avoid the lengthy queues that some expo-goers encountered at the ticket gate last year. You can purchase them HERE.
