Bake to fight animal cruelty – a morning tea you would be barking mad to miss!

Aug 10, 2018 | Reading Time: 2 minutes

We all like to indulge in a little sweet treat from time to time and, according to an old wives’ tale, when doing it for charity it’s calorie free (okay we may have made that part up). But if you did need an excuse to get making, baking and cake eating with friends, family and co-workers, there is no better excuse than the RSPCA’s Cupcake Day.

Start your Monday off on a sugar high this August 20th, or any day this August, and host a morning or afternoon tea (or both if it’s a slow day at the office), all for a great cause.

The RSPCA South Australia assists over 10,000 animals each year and they rely heavily on donations to give our native and domestic animals the best chance at life. Funds raised by the RSPCA South Australia go towards shelter, food, investigating animal abuse, assistance in meeting the cost of vet bills, along with countless other measures taken by RSPCA South Australia to protect our vulnerable furry, feathered, and scaly friends.

For those willing to ‘Bake to Fight Animal Cruelty’ on the sweetest day of the year, RSPCA South Australia will help you become a ‘hostess with the mostest’ upon registering you can download your host kit filled with posters, bunting, host guide and cupcake labels. Plus –kick start your fundraising and raise $20 and you’ll be sent a baking recipe book with some drool worthy recipes for both two and four legged guests.

The dog friendly poochy-keen pupcakes are sure to be a big hit with our fur babies, along with the decadent chocolate and nut brownies for their humans. And if all of that wasn’t incentive enough,  while fundraising, you are in with a chance to win a Nespesso Coffee Machine and an incredible holiday for 2 to Tasmania.

There is many an animal lover amongst our She Shopped community, so this August 20th let us eat cake for man’s (and woman’s) best friend and help RSPCA South Australia reach their target of $50,000. That’s enough to give 2000 dogs in need at least 3 nights of specialist care in an RSPCA shelter!
