Repromed | Elective Egg Freezing Seminar – 28th January 2020

Jan 24, 2020 | Reading Time: 2 minutes

Female fertility declines with age and there are many reasons women decide to freeze their eggs to keep their options open.

Whatever the reason for deciding to freeze your eggs, the process is best done before the age of 35, if it’s for non-medical purposes.

Perhaps you want children but you’re not in the position to make that commitment right now due to career, relationship or financial reasons.

But to ensure you have more chance of starting a family later in life, egg freezing allows you to preserve your fertility and give you the choice.

Repromed is holding a free seminar on elective egg freezing on Tuesday 28th January, 2020 at 7:00 PM to help you plan your future.

Presented by Dr Nicole Edge at 180 Fullarton Road, Dulwich, you will receive comprehensive information about egg freezing in a friendly, social setting.

Egg freezing is the method of storing your eggs to preserve your fertility and is usually considered by women or couples who aren’t in a position to have a baby yet or their fertility is at risk for medical reasons.

The process involves undergoing IVF treatment where eggs are collected from the follicles on your ovaries, and given to an embryologist who determines which eggs are suitable to freeze.

When you’re ready to use your frozen eggs to try for a baby, an egg will be thawed by warming to 37 degrees Celsius.

Once the egg is fertilised it becomes an embryo and if deemed suitable by an embryologist is transferred back into the female.

It’s important to note that a frozen egg doesn’t always result in a pregnancy as it can depend on many factors but it’s best to chat with a fertility doctor about your options.
