Food & Drink

The women in my family have a lot of things in common, but one unfortunate prevalence that spans the generations is an acute allergy to sulphur dioxide, a preservative commonly used as a preservative in food and beverages. This has ruled us out from having a cheeky glass of wine together, because it almost instantly results in a raft of really uncomfortable symptoms including stomach pain, headache, swelling of the lips and hives. Let’s just say we were no fun at a party until we discovered Pure Vision’s delightful preservative free, organic Sauvignon Blanc. Hurrah!

With fresh, lively, fruity flavours, it’s a delicious wine, but as we know the art of enjoying a glass is not all about the palette. Pure Vision delights all the senses – one whiff of this white and you can detect hints of citrus and kiwifruit – yum!

The one word that comes to mind to describe this wine is ‘fresh’ and perhaps that is not by chance. An organic product, Pure Vision Sauvignon Blanc is made from organic grapes grown without the use of synthetic chemicals, fertilisers or pesticides. This applies to the entire process, from the vineyard to the winery. Pair it with spicy Thai food, a seafood dish or risotto with asparagus and you have a match made in heaven.

If ‘organic’ has grabbed your attention, you might also like to know it is vegan friendly. I didn’t realise until very recently that wine commonly contains animal products including gelatine, egg white, skim milk and isinglass (dried fish bladders…blah!) Not so at Pure Vision. The entire range of organic wine is produced with a vegetable based fining product and is therefore vegan friendly.

Let’s return to those pesky preservatives, or lack of when it comes to Pure Vision Sauvignon Blanc. This white wine is obviously a great option for those with sulphur allergies like myself who simply cannot tolerate wine anymore, but ladies it is a better drinking option for all of us, because sulphur never helped anyone out! If you can avoid it, you should.

So here’s cheers to Pure Vision and their utterly delicious organic, preservative free Sauvignon Blanc – carefully crafted by a wonderful South Australian family business, and available to all of us at the very affordable price of $14 p/bottle. Order by shopping online HERE and of course always drink responsibly.
