Plan the perfect Mother’s Day, thanks to She Shopped’s ultimate guide! We’ve selected some of our favourite venues and have had a sneak peek at their plans for Mother’s Day. One thing’s for sure, they all have delicious food, an extensive drink lists with specials especially made for mum, and a warm ambience.  Plus, each venue offers delectable vegetarian, vegan and gluten free meals, so there’s something for every mum! Find your local from our list here.

The Mile End

This 1840 treasure, located only five minutes from the city, has been rejuvenated into a boutique pub.  Boasting a stunning Art Deco interior with open fireplaces, plenty of cozy and relaxed spaces and an expansive beer garden, The Mile End offers inventive Modern Australian pub food, a great wine list, gins and craft beer on tap.

This Mother’s Day enjoy $10 Gin Fizz cocktails or Espresso Martinis all day.  Lucy and Zoe love The Mile End’s Warm Pumpkin and Haloumi Salad (gluten free and vegetarian), and don’t forget dessert!  Do Mother’s Day right and save room for the Chocolate Mousse and Berry Compote.  Heaven!

The Colonist

Another gem, The Colonist, is our number one pub in Norwood.  It has it all – an historic beauty that serves delectable food and boasts an extensive selection of drinks; attracting patrons from near and far.  The Colonist has been trading on the Parade since 1851, so they definitely know what they’re doing!

The Colonist opens from 8.30am on Mother’s Day, so you can celebrate by enjoying breakfast, lunch or dinner!  We loved starting a meal here with the Foraging Plates.  You can choose from eight delicious share options; we feasted upon the Baked Gnocchi, Sesame Soy Tofu and the Chilli Salt and Pepper Squid.  Yum!  Finish with a cheese plate – you can build your board based upon the cheeses that tickle your fancy.  Pair with a glass of Hentley Farm Blanc de Noir Sparkling, only $10 per glass.

The Unley

Located conveniently close to the city in the leafy suburb of Parkside, The Unley is well-known for its mouth-watering menu, epic gin cocktails and fabulous choice of dining spaces.  It is a perfect destination for lunch, afternoon drinks or dinner, with plenty of convenient parking at the rear.

We recommend sitting on the rooftop where you can relax with share plates, $10 Mother’s Day Mimosas and love acoustic music from 3.00pm.  She Shopped’s menu favourites include the Roasted Pumpkin, Beetroot, Ricotta, Sage, confit Garlic and Mozzarella Pizza, followed by the delightfully whimsical Rhubarb Wagon Wheel for dessert!  For the vegan or gluten free mum, the Felafel Salad with Tabbouleh, Heirloom Tomatoes and Tahini dressing will definitely hit the spot.

The Duck Inn

Set in the Adelaide Hills’ pretty Coromandel Valley, The Duck Inn is a charming, relaxed pub with the ideal atmosphere for celebrating Mother’s Day.  Who doesn’t love nestling into a Chesterfield lounge next to a roaring fireplace?

The Duck Inn’s menu is teeming with local produce, featuring tapas for sharing, traditional pub classics, restaurant quality meals and a range of dishes celebrating the pub’s namesake, the duck!  Once again, we went for the share plates; we couldn’t go past the Pan Fried Korean Dumplings (vegan), Crispy Karaage Chicken, Pork Belly Skewers and the Tofu Espuma (gluten free and vegan).

Put a smile on Mum’s dial with $20 Pimms jugs or $10 build your own Gin Fizz cocktails.  Singer and guitarist Russell Stuart will be playing all the favourites spanning the last 50 years from 3.00pm.

Mick O’Shea’s

Mick O’Shea’s is a traditional Irish Pub nestled in the gently rolling hills of the Southern Vales, located 45 minutes from Adelaide and 10 minutes from the McLaren Vale.  With a lively atmosphere and picturesque surroundings, you can celebrate Mother’s Day with delicious dining and a premium drinks menu.

On a recent She Shopped visit, we enjoyed the Ricotta Gnocchi with Sage Butter, Heirloom Tomatoes, Roasted Capsicum, Pumpkin, Caramelised Onion and Broc Tops (vegetarian); a dish so vibrant in taste and colour that it must have come fresh from the garden!  Mick O’Shea’s is also known for their Chargrilled MSA Angus Sirloin Steak; choose your weapon with either 200g or the beefy 300g (pun definitely intended).  Finish your meal with the pretty as a picture Strawberries and Cream Panna Cotta.  Oh yes please!

We highly recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment.  No mother wants to deal with food envy on her special day!  Call each hotel directly or simply book online.

Mother’s Day will be celebrated on Sunday, 13th May, 2018.
