As if by magic, December is once again upon us and it’s time to start plan for Christmas with all the trimmings! We keep things pretty simple at our home, trying hard not to get caught up in the frenzy, rather focussing on some simple traditions, which will hopefully etch unforgettable memories for our three boys.

Each year they get into the “silly season” in one way or another. In years gone past they’ve chosen a whacky decoration to hang on the tree. This year they’ve picked a novelty Christmas jumper. Marks & Spencer have designs for the young and young at heart. Ed is wearing the Snowman Reindeer Jumper, Raph is rocking the All Over Skull print and Sonny is cute as a button in the Not Just for Christmas sweat.

With the boys sorted, I decided to add some sparkle too, with the limited edition Sequin Long Sleeve Shift Dress. I could not love this festive frock more! The classic silhouette is made merry by all over sequins and the sweetest oversized bow at the back for extra cheer. Perfect for Christmas day or a Christmas party.

Speaking of entertaining, we always host Christmas Day at our home. I’m always on the lookout for pieces that not only look good but are functional too – like this champagne trug. Browse through Marks & Spencer’s plentiful home range for wares that will make your festive season stylish and simple!

It wouldn’t be Christmas at our home, without plenty of ‘sometimes food’. I’m not much of a cook, but I do make an exception at this time of year and try new recipes that the boys and I can attempt together. This year we’ve been making Mars Bar Slice Puddings – so easy, so fun and so delicious! I’ve popped the recipe below.

Mars Bar Slice Puddings Recipe

Ingredients

200g Mars Bars, chopped

2 tbsp of pouring (thin) cream

2 tsp cocoa powder, sifted

3 cups Rice Bubbles

canola spray

100g white chocolate

24 red Smarties

Method

Spray a little canola spray into 2 x 12 cup mini-muffin trays.

Melt the Mars Bars, cream and cocoa in a glass bowl over simmering water. The bowl should not touch water. Stir the mixture until smooth.

Put the Rice Bubbles in a separate large bowl, pour in the chocolate mixture and stir until well mixed.

Spoon the mixture into the muffins tray and press down gently.

Refrigerate for 2 hours and turn out onto a tray to decorate.

Melt the white chocolate in the microwave checking and stirring it at 30 second intervals.

Turn the crackles upside down and dollop the chocolate on. Finish with a red smartie on top of each one.

How good do they look?! We relied on a little Marks & Spencer bakeware for this recipe including: Vintage Bake Measuring Cups, Vintage Bake Measuring Spoons, 2 Pack Oven Tray, Vintage Bake Ceramic Rolling Pin and the sweetest Tall Glass Cake Stand to display them.

From our family to yours, wishing you a Christmas that is equal parts silly, simple and special.
