IKEA Adelaide’s exciting new Playland is coming … The grand opening is this Saturday, 16th April at 9.00am!

IKEA Adelaide’s Playland has undergone a complete transformation for the first time since the store’s opening, ten years ago.  Inspired by the West Coast of Sweden and a traditional Swedish fishing village, this fun and engaging environment is the perfect place for kids to explore.  Ikea-1They can search the Swedish coastline aboard the fishing boat in the lake (also known as the ball pit!), or head to the large café food market to set up produce stalls and cook imaginary gourmet good, street vendor style!  After all of these adventures, the kids can take the bridge to the boardwalk-inspired chill out TV area to relax.  Ikea-14

For Pamela Cranwell, IKEA Adelaide Communications and Interior Design Manager, it’s been extremely rewarding to watch children use the space.

“The different interactive areas are giving the kids the chance to role play. This is encouraged by the IKEA products and lovely environment and most importantly the children’s imagination. We’ve seen picnics happen inside the boat and the children interact with one another in an unprecedented way. It’s lovely”Ikea-5Your children will love the new IKEA Playland, where the stimulating surrounds will encourage imaginative fun. An hour spent there will feel like 20 minutes!   Ikea-4 To celebrate this fantastic new space, the first 20 children to enter Playland on Saturday, 16th April, will go into the draw to cut the ribbon at the Grand Opening!  In addition, the first 40 children to visit Playland will receive a little surprise, so be sure to get there early. Ikea-9

The IKEA Adelaide Playland has a new mascot, a delightful little squirrel from a Swedish birch forest.  He lives in a tree near the entrance to the new Playland, but currently he doesn’t have a name.  Stay tuned for IKEA’s ‘Name that Squirrel’ competition in May!
