CYSTIC FIBROSIS SOUTH AUSTRALIA | 65 ROSES AT HOME.

Sep 8, 2020 | Reading Time: 2 minutes

JOIN THE 65 ROSES AT HOME EVENT TO RAISE FUNDS FOR ADVOCACY, SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE FOR THE CYSTIC FIBROSIS COMMUNITY IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

Each year, Cystic Fibrosis South Australia holds the 65 Roses Ball in Adelaide, raising vital funds to support those living with cystic fibrosis.

In 2020, things are being done a little differently.  The ball has been cancelled, but you can show your support by donating, planning an event at home, entering the raffle and bidding in the silent auction as part of the 65 Roses At Home event.

To better understand the impact of this disease, we had the privilege of meeting the gorgeous and eloquent seven-year-old Amarli, who was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis as a newborn.

As part of her management plan, each day Amarli takes 25 tablets, has physiotherapy sessions and uses her nebuliser three times.

Amarli’s mum, Amanda, also explains that there are “multiple appointments quarterly at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.  She’s also had three admissions now, and they’re generally 14-day stints in at the hospital, which is really tough.”

Amarli’s attitude is awesome.

“Amarli is such a trooper. She goes about her day like any other normal seven-year-old child. However, as a family, we’re just praying for a cure,” says Amanda.

“It feels… when I had cystic fibrosis, I feel very special.  I don’t feel as different as other people, and they don’t know that I’m different to other people,” explains Amarli

So I don’t let CF stop me from doing anything in my life.  It does not get me down.  I feel the exact same every day.  I’m happy all the time.”

65 Roses At Home provides you with a new and exciting way to support Amarli and others living with cystic fibrosis.

Host an event at home with family and friends —that may be a dinner party, a cocktail night, a themed party.  Do it your way, add your creative flair.  You may consider charging your guests ‘an entry fee’, choose to collect a ‘wine selection’ from CFSA which you can raffle or auction on the night or get an item donated from a local business and run a raffle on the night. The options are endless, this is your chance to think outside the square!

65 Roses At Home will be running in conjunction with an online silent auction, closing on the evening of Saturday, September 19th.  Online bidding will open two weeks prior, with fierce and competitive bidding expected from all the events held at homes around SA on the 19th.

For members of the community who prefer not to gather in the groups at this time, there are lots of other ways to get involved.  You may choose to hold a virtual event and set up a Zoom party with your buddies.  Or you can jump online and bid in the auction.
