BLACKFRIARS EARLY LEARNING CENTRE OFFERS YOUR CHILD THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE, INVESTIGATE AND DISCOVER THROUGH PLAY.

Blackfriars Priory School has a tradition of providing excellent education and instilling a sense of community in all students.  Start your child’s journey by enrolling them at Blackfriars Early Learning Centre.

The centre continues to exceed all National Quality Standards (NQS) for the delivery of childcare services by provides a nurturing, early learning education for 3 to 5-year-old boys and girls.

Blackfriars Early Learning Centre is home to three learning spaces.  Director Karen McEntee explains,

“Each room has the capacity for 20 children per day, and with that, there are two qualified staff: a qualified teacher and a qualified education support officer.”  These skilled and passionate staff members also cater for special needs.

The centre is open each weekday from 7.30am until 6.00pm.

There are 2 to 5-day options available for 3 year-olds, and 3 to 5-day options for 4 and 5 year-olds, with early care, pre-school, late care and vacation care all available.

The integrated play-based curriculum at Blackfriars ELC has been developed using the Reggio Emilia approach.  Your child will be encouraged and supported to learn through play, investigation and exploration.

As part of the school community, children benefit from regular visits by the Reception classes, accessing the primary library and other facilities, and by attending school mass and assembly.

Through these experiences, your child will be supported and encouraged to pursue their own special interests, to explore the world around them with curiosity and resilience, and to build strong friendships.

Blackfriars Early Learning Centre can prepare your child for a seamless transition to school.  Andrea’s son, Gus, attends the centre.

“I feel like Gus is really school ready because he’s had exposure to lots of different subjects: science, art, languages.  He’s learned about different cultures, and so I think when he starts school I have confidence that he’ll be ready.”

The Child Care Subsidy enables the Early Learning Centre to offer reduced fees to families. Families must have a MyGov account.  Please contact Centrelink for more information.

“To me it’s not so much about the bricks and mortar.  It’s about what happens in there, and it’s about the interactions between people.”  Karen McEntee Director of the Early Learning Centre
