Apr 29, 2016 | Reading Time: 3 minutes

Nothing beats a cool autumn night, snuggled up with your children, enjoying a good book together. Australia Post retail outlets are home to a wide variety of books, perfect for your little ones. Reading in our family is a bedtime ritual and a great way to grab some quality quiet time together after a hectic day.

If we are in search of a few new titles to add to our home library, we head straight to our local post shop. We’ve also discovered some beautiful boxed collections and classic hardcovers, ideal for keepsake gifts.

Australia Post are home to a range of great titles

I now think of Australia Post to buy books for my boys, but also for myself. I had fallen into the habit of only reading on my device, so not only had reading lost its charm, but also the relaxation effect I had traditionally relied on to fall asleep at night. I found I was easily distracted and would scroll between my book and social media sites. Something had to change, so I made a conscious decision to start collecting ‘real’ books again.

For adults and children

I’ve discovered lots of great novels and also coffee table books, like Shaynna Blaze’s ‘Design with Colour and Style’. Shayne is the star of Selling Houses Australia and expert judge on Channel 9’s The Block. Her book offers advice and inspiration to help you discover your individual style and colour palette, so you can design your dream interior. It looks good sitting on my coffee table too!

Put down the devices and pick up a book

Reading real books and turning actual paper pages feels good! I’ve rediscovered my love of reading, I’m sleeping better and I also feel like I’m setting a good example for my boys. I want them to see me reading real books, because I know it will encourage them to continue to develop their love of reading.

Reading is good for everyone

Young or old, we should all be reading every single day because it improves knowledge, vocabulary, memory and concentration – it’s never too soon or too late to improve our learning though reading.
