Everybody’s favourite fancy lady – mother, singer, comedian, writer, TV and radio presenter Em Rusciano – is FED UP. Difficult women run the world. Hell raising, rule breaking, glass ceiling obiterators. They make noise, waves and a difference … but they never get the praise that they deserve and Em is not happy about it! Embracing her status as a difficult woman, Em brings her powerful vocals and scandalous stand-up comedy to Adelaide Cabaret Festival for one night only. This riotous celebration of of lady-bosses will leave fire in your belly and a strut in your step!
Known to fans worldwide for her stand-out role as Big Boo in Orange is the New Black, Lea DeLaria’s staggering talent is not to be missed. Be prepared for a brand of comedy that is frank, outspokenly political and bitingly hard, mixed with Lea’s incredible velvet vocals and impressive range; making for a truly exceptional evening of laughter and song. Lea DeLaria – Live in Concert will feature songs from her latest album House of David: delaria + bowie = jazz, an ode to David Bowie’s greatest hits.
Adelaide Cabaret Festival is honoured to host multiple Tony and Grammy award winner Patti Lupone, a legend of stage and screen. Patti reflects upon her four decades in the business; sharing personal stories between renditions of classic Broadway tunes from Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart, Jule Styne, Stephen Schwartz, Charles Strouse, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin. An unmissable opportunity to hear one of the contemporary Broadway greats.
We can speak with absolute authority that you will not regret taking in the splendour that is The Cat Empire. A joyous riot of melody and rhythm, this immensely talented group cannot be defined by a single genre. Expect music of incredible flavours that will have you and your fellow audience members soaring in a collective feeling of freedom, self-abandon and endless summer. Joined by a special guest line up of cabaret artists exclusively for one show only, this is a performance never to be repeated!
Hans, Adelaide’s favourite German icon, is back for a naughty night of nautical fun, in the best land-bound cruise ship show this side of the Torrens! Joining Hans on stage, the Lucky Seven swing band will blast out show tunes from the 1940s and 1950s to the present day with an infectious energy topped only by the high-kicking chorus of showboys and showgirls. A night of marine fun – anchors away!
