The Port Lincoln Hotel is one of South Australia’s most picturesque wedding venues, and it is just a short 30 minute flight from Adelaide. Experience the magic of the exquisite location, complete with a stunning backdrop of panoramic ocean views, a spectacular natural light filled reception room, award winning food and your very own dedicated wedding coordinator.

But don’t take our word for it, we spoke to three brides, who all had their wedding at Port Lincoln Hotel, to find out more.

Rebecca from Adelaide – The destination bride

For Rebecca and soon to be husband Nikolas, there were certain non-negotiables when it came to their wedding; it had to involve their families, good food and a relaxing environment. A destination wedding was not always intended, but they discovered that something close to Adelaide was not going to fit within their budget. The idea of getting married on South Australia’s west coast was appealing, because the region is home to many happy memories for Rebecca and her family. The couple also loved the idea of having a weekend away with their families to celebrate.

Rebecca and Nikolas were immediately captivated by the Port Lincoln Hotel and its location on the foreshore, overlooking Boston Bay. The couple were pleasantly surprised by the packages on offer, and the flexibility of the venue, especially when it came to configuring the ballroom.

The soon-to-be-weds were nervous about how their families would respond to a destination wedding, but to their delight everyone was excited and loved the idea – most guests turned it into a holiday, extending their stay to do some sightseeing in the stunning region. Rebecca and Nikolas appreciated that they didn’t feel pressured to catch up with everyone at the reception, because they had arranged a pre-wedding welcome dinner, and post-wedding brunch.

Rebecca and Nikolas felt so well supported by the team at the Port Lincoln Hotel, especially Karena, their dedicated wedding planner. The setting and the service combined to make the couple’s dream of a relaxed, intimate wedding, surrounded by their most treasured family and friends, a reality.

Jade from Whyalla – The edgy bride

Jade 1

Port Lincoln is a special place for Ben and Jade; it’s where they would escape from their busy lives to be together, relax, unwind, fall in love and get tattooed! The Port Lincoln hotel was always the first choice for their romantic getaways. The couple sometimes encountered judgement for being heavily tattooed, but not at the Port Lincoln Hotel, where they were always made to feel welcome. So deciding where to have their reception was easy, not only because of their history with the venue, but because it provided a large, modern, space, for Jade to execute her amazing, unique wedding day vision.

Jade was determined to invest in nothing but the best for her big day and she wanted to surround herself with people who understood her show stopping style, enter Sam from Atmosphere Events. Sam loved Jade’s ideas and was able to make her vision a reality, thanks to a truck load of props, he brought in from his Adelaide warehouse. Together they revolutionized the space to reflect a highly stylised circus wedding.

It was also important for Jade to find a photographer capable of capturing her edgy style. Jade knew Ky Luu was her man when she browsed his portfolio, which included a steam punk wedding. Jade is adamant he is the best in the business and her images tell the same story; including the one he captured of the whole bridal party in the tattoo shop.

Moni at Golden Sable florist is another creative who also managed to interpret Jade’s vision, especially when it came to Jades bouquet.

For Jade the Port Lincoln Hotel wedding experience was amplified by Karena’s phenomenal effort, and service. The dedicated wedding coordinator worked around the clock to sort out any issues – including when the popcorn machine Jade bought from America set on fire! Karena also paid attention to the details that could easily be forgotten, for example she made sure Jade always had a drink…very important!!

Jade and Ben spared no expense when it came to their wedding, but it was worth it. If they could change one thing, it would be to have more hours in the day, it just went by way to fast.

Emma from Port Lincoln – the local bride

Emma and Ben's Wedding-496

When Emma said ‘I do’ to Ben, it was in St Mary of the Angels, the church that shares grounds with St Joseph’s school, where the couple met. A mutual love of the ocean made selecting the reception venue easy, the Port Lincoln Hotel’s views of the bay are unrivalled.

Given the couple live in Port Lincoln, it was easy to pop into the venue to discuss their big day, with dedicated wedding coordinator, Karena. Together they problem solved accommodating their large wedding party of 12, 160 guests, and a mandatory dance floor. With Karena’s expertise, the couple managed to configure the ballroom and make the most of the foyer, so that the space felt perfectly spacious and yet still intimate and private.

Emma and Ben relied on mostly locals for their big day. For make-up, Emma selected a talented friend, Aislinn Bascomb, their cake was by Cake Dreams, and Emma spent the morning getting ready with her bridal party at Natural Hair and Skin, which made it so relaxing and stress free. The couple opted for Elevation Photography and Infinity Films, both from Adelaide, for capturing their magical day.

For Emma the service received from the team at Port Lincoln Hotel was faultless and the venue provided the perfect setting for beginning their journey of “happily ever after”.
