King William Road, Hyde Park, is my go to when I want to spend an afternoon, wandering the footpaths in search of leading fashion, great food and plentiful pampering options. Like everyone, I’m busy and I love that the character-filled destination provides me easy accessibility to a spoiling of boutique fashion and homeware stores and a delicious variety of eateries – most of which are family owned businesses. No two afternoons spent on King William Road are the same for me, there is always something new to discover.

My Style Bar

Recently I treated myself to a few hours on King William Road, for a little Mother’s Day shopping. Of course, I’m a mum too, so I took the opportunity for an express pamper session at My Style Bar. Nothing gives me a little spring in my step, like some bounce in my hair, and the stylists at My Style Bar are experts in providing the ultimate blow-dry. It’s also a one stop shop for makeup and you can even get a mani while you’re getting your hair done. My Style Bar use only the most luxurious products, to leave you feeling truly pampered, even if you only have time to pop in quickly. Take advantage of their extended hours and spoil yourself or your mum. Gift voucher also available.

The window of Raspe Giftology and Living always captures my attention. If you like to discover different gifts, you’ll love Raspe. They have a stunning range of homewares, aromatherapy diffusers, candles and body products ideal for showing mum how much you care this Mother’s Day. I spotted a frame that I couldn’t leave without!

My pampering and shopping session left me in need of a healthy refuel, so off to Nutrition Republic I went. I adore the friendly staff and the bustling ambience of this espresso and elixir bar. Everything on the menu is nutritious and so incredibly delicious. Insider tip – if your digestive system in in need of an awakening, try their health tonics, served as a shot glass. They are my new obsession!

After lunch I wandered south along King William Road and made my way into Pari. I could spend hours in this store, sifting through the racks filled with leading fashion labels, Angel Wings and Jophiel and scouring the shelves filled with eclectic homewares and cultural piece. If your mum is a free spirit and lover of the earth, with an appreciation for stunning aesthetics, you’ll find her Mother’s Day gift at Pari.

It’s ironic that an afternoon spent on King William Road, can be so reinvigorating. It’s so close to the hustle and bustle of the Adelaide CBD and yet the character of the road is incredibly relaxing. Perhaps, in a bid to prolong the feeling, I made one last stop at Flowers 152, for a bunch of bright pink lilies – an ode to my mum, my own journey of motherhood and to all the mums, who mostly take care of everyone else and occasionally just need to escape to a place like King William Road to take care of themselves.
